京都の風致地区・特別修景地域に位置する。ずっと以前からそこの一部であったような佇まいをもつ木の家の姿を求めた。樹齢300年のドイツのオーク材を建物の骨格からディテールの隅々にまで使用。音楽鑑賞を趣味としてきたクライアントの暮らし方を念頭に、家全体で音を響かせ、小さな音楽会ができるくらいの洗練された音響環境の中で生活する住空間をコンセプトとした。

Located in the ancient capital Kyoto, while giving it the outward appearance of a restrained traditional building in harmony with the surroundings, what was aimed for here is to make a dynamic spaciousness inside with wood framework and to simultaneously attain the same quality of space as in the elegant Japanese architectural style sukiya that can be characterized by its aesthetic of naturalness and refined simplicity.
